New York City regained the title “world fashion capital” from Milan. However the yearly chart shows that those on the first five places are in serious competition with Asia and Australia.
New York was on the first place for 5 consecutive times while last year was replaced by Milan in the chart of the Global Language Monitor which is based in the USA non-government organisation. They monitor the frequency of key words and phrases in the media and Internet as well as in the fashion blogs.
With the economy getting better the Big Apple is slowly regaining the position of the leader in the fashion world being followed by Hong Kong, Paris, London and Los Angeles.
In the first ten places are also Milan, Sydney, Miami, Barcelona and Madrid. The biggest winners in the chart are Hong Kong who climbed 5 places; Madrid – with 11 and Melbourne - 14 positions ahead!
Another country that is making very good progress is India with Mumbai before Delhi, also Sao Paulo is getting ahead Rio de Janeiro plus Buenos Aires and Mexico City in Latin America. The organisation is also saying that the new comers in the top positions of the chart are Amsterdam – 17th; Capetown and Johannesburg - 23rd and 25th and Vienna – only 27th. Berlin is at 18th place and the Russian capital – Moscow – 20th in this chart.
